As a teacher trainer I have the physical knowledge that a lifetime of ballet, twelve years of Authentic Pilates™ and my own personal experience with injuries has given me. I am able relate to my clients and teacher certification students on many levels as only some one with this kind of life experience can.
In 1996 I began my Pilates training at The Pilates Studio at 2121 Broadway with Stephanie Beatty and studied with her for five years before deciding in 2001 to become certified as a Authentic Pilates™ instructor through The New York Pilates Studio® Teacher Certification Program. During that time I also studied extensively with Michael Fritzke, Ton Voogt and Romana Kryzanowska.
Prior to teaching Pilates, I enjoyed a thirty-four year dance career as a corps de ballet member and principal dancer with the Metropolitan Opera until 2001 when I retired.
I received my formal dance training from 1961 to 1967 as a scholarship student at the School of American Ballet in New York.
When I joined The Metropolitan Opera in 1967 the ballet department was under the direction of Dame Alicia Markova. I danced principal solos in many Met productions including Adriana Lecouvreur, Aida, La Traviata, La Perichole, La Gioconda, Faust and Mefestofole. From 1976-1985, I also appeared with the Met’s touring ballet ensemble.
The studio and Mr. Gallagher recognizes what an asset Suzanne is to her students and as well as to our program and want to express our gratitude for her continued efforts in helping us carry on the work of Joseph and Clara Pilates.
